Session 5 - Breaking Out Doc
BREAKING OUT DOC, YOU IN?

Session 5: 11/15/13
Mission 5: BREAKING OUT DOC, YOU IN?
Shadowrunners: Arsenal, Superbat, Bullhorn, Shotgun Carter, Autumn Rose

Mission Summary:
Immediately after the train incident and the resulting destruction of the Universal Omnitech HQ, a Docwagon employee named Dr. Robert Samson was arrested by Lonestar and charged with International Terrorism. Docwagon publically stated that a VTOL aircraft had gone missing from their records during the attack, and disavowed any knowledge of the incident.

The news feeds seemed to put most of the heat on Aztechnology, a known rival of Universal Omnitech, due to a simultaneous incident at their facility in Olympia where the train passed. Dozens of amateur trids appeared on the Matrix of the train attack from commuters on I-5. When pieced together they show a man in full body armor leap a motorcycle off the freeway onto the train, blow up the roof of the rear car, and then parachute off it minutes later.

Arsenal sent out the call for help a few days after the bombing of Universal Omnitech. The mission was simple: Free Doc from Lonestar. After some public posturing from Deke Winslow, the President of the Seattle division of Lone Star Security Services, it was leaked that Lonestar had an airdock at the Seattle airport cleared out for the following night, and they would be transporting the prisoner.

The runners determined the route the caravan would take and set up an ambush. The next night the plan went off without a hitch and the Lonestar team was completely outmatched. Although leaving a city block in ruins, Doc was saved and the team escaped. Doc was dropped off with Bricktop’s men and put into a Mafia run safehouse as planned. It was almost too easy.

Later that night, immediately following a press conference announcing the creation of Roland Universal, breaking news live feeds showed a large Lonestar security team breaking into an expensive house somewhere deep in the back woods of Renton. Over the next day it was revealed that they had captured a man named Jack Slater, and had airtight proof that he was armored man on the train, and was also linked to other recent high profile events such as the explosions at a Tattoo parlor and Hotel Nikko in the downtown international district.

Lone Star Security Services had captured the true culprit, and Seattle was safe once more.

Payment per runner:
$0 Nuyen
11 Karma for self imposing a suicide mission to repay a friend, with no civilian casualties

Session 4 - Crazy Train
How bad can it really get?

Session 4: 11/8/13
Mission 4: Crazy Train
Shadowrunners: Arsenal, Superbat, Bullhorn, Shotgun Carter, Autumn Rose

Mission Summary:
The runners met with another Agent of the Matrix Johnson Patriot at the Northwest Hyper-Rail station in downtown Seattle core, in VR as always. The agent described the run in detail. It involved gaining both physical and matrix control of a specific Hyper-Rail train headed from Portland to Vancouver, picking up “The Package” from another team waiting at the Aztechnology HQ stop in Olympia (SSC), making it past the security checkpoint at the Everett Marina, and then delivering “The Package” to Vancouver at the end of the line. They were given access to a powerful Jammer that would shut off communications to the train during their initial engagement.

Most of the runners headed to Portland to board the train as passengers, while an unnamed runner stayed behind in Salish territory to enter the train mid-run with additional firepower. Unknown to the runners, also on board the train were a group of Triads escorting a shipment of high grade Bioware to the Everett Marina. The mission went as planned… for about 6 seconds. Prior to the pickup of “The Package”, an explosion caused by the lone runner detonated the rear security compartment of the train, immediately neutralizing most of the rear security but also virtually guaranteeing failure at the subsequent security checkpoints.

The ensuing chaos left all the Triads, and most of the train security dead or disabled; and around 30 civilian passengers confused and terrified. Although the unnamed runner escaped the train somewhere in the SSC off I-5, the remaining runners attempted to salvage the mission. The team at the Olympia checkpoint made contact with the runaway train, and told the runners they were still going to deliver the package on schedule, but the situation had gotten extremely hot. The train team permanently disabled the train braking system, and the package was delivered by the Olympia team under heavy Aztechnology fire via extremely violent, high speed cargo rail while the train screamed through the checkpoint.

Minutes later, a Docwagon VTOL craft made contact with the train and extracted the remaining runner team, along with the Triad crate, a lone member of train security, and a Docwagon client; leaving the surviving civilians and guards to their fate. It delivered the runners safely to a field in Puyallup, Seattle, where they watched the aftermath of the event via news feed.

The train proceeded to tear through downtown Seattle, the Everett Marina station, and all of the associated security checkpoints on the way North. Due to the speed in which it changed security jurisdictions, no single force was able to respond in time, and it tore straight off the end of the line into the Univeral Omnitech HQ in Vancouver to deliver “The Package”. Less than a half hour after the runners were dropped off in the field, there was a bright flash of light off the horizon to the North, followed by a massive cloud and a tremendous wave of stale hot air.

A low yield nuclear event had taken place, and wiped out the Universal Omnitech HQ campus and surrounding area. Lonestar has captured the rogue Docwagon agent and has charged him with “Aiding in an International Terrorist Event”.

Payment per runner:
$15,000 for successful delivery of “The Package” to the Universal Omnitech HQ in Vancouver

Session 3 - Meet the Players
Welcome to the Big Leagues

Session 3: 11/1/13
Mission 3: Meet the Players
Shadowrunners: Arsenal, Superbat, Bullhorn, Shotgun Carter

Mission Summary:
The runners were contacted by an anonymous fixer on some throwaway SIN’s, and told to meet on the rooftop of the 30 story Yojirushi building at precisely 7:30PM the next night. After a brief get-together and introductions in a bar, they decided to set up a tour of the Yojirushi building with Brackhaven Investments, the owner. They met the next afternoon with Samantha Meyers, a Senior Broker for Brackhaven Investments, and got a tour of the facility with special interest in the Luxury Suite floors near the top.

At precisely 7:30PM, the runners exited the freight elevator filled with their best equipment onto the windy roof of the building. A commlink call introduced them to “The Psion”, an unknown Johnson with the icon of an old Matrix MMO boss. The mission was simple: Extract Avery Parker (a newly hired Arcanoarcheoloist) from a banquet on the 28th floor of the nearby Horizon Splendor building, in exactly 15 minutes.

The pressure was on, and the the Horizon building security lit up instantly. Within a minute of the initial engagement there were large-scale car accidents, nearly a dozen of casualties, hundreds injured, and drones raining from the sky. In an extremely impressive display of luck, stealth, and brute force, the team escaped with Avery virtually untouched.

Minutes later after escaping with Avery, he revealed that he was the Johnson that set up the extraction; and requested to use a commlink to make a few calls. Parker had escaped with valuable data that he intended to sell on the open market, but it was clear he had no good plan on how to go about doing that. He proceeded to call various corporation Bigwigs with no success, finally getting a meet set up with NeoNET representative (and head of Matrix Security) Russel Thomas, AKA Avatar.

The meet went relatively smoothly. Mr. Thomas was very interested in the data that Parker held, and quickly realized that Parker had a powerful Cortex Bomb installed set to vaporize the data if it was tampered with. They agreed to meet in a few hours for the money/data transfer at the Nikko Hotel downtown. Immediately after the meet, Parker attempted to contact another company to see if he could get a higher offer – but was knocked unconscious by the Shadowrunning team for obviously putting them at huge risk.

The Runner team was contacted by the Matrix Johnson Patriot, who for the first time in any records was not dealing through an agent program. Patriot revealed that he had initially hired Parker to infiltrate Horizon and access this data, and would pay the runners his agreed sum if they delivered him. He also mentioned that Avatar was most likely setting a trap for them, Horizon was hot on their trail, and a Renraku operative was currently tailing the Horizon team. The runners agreed to his offer, and with some clever Astral/Matrix diversions managed to lure the Horizon team directly into the NeoNET ambush; causing the complete destruction of the Nikko hotel block and likely a major corporate coverup.

Heading to the final drop location deep in the slums of Redmond, the team encountered their final obstacle. The lone Renraku operative Chow Ming Lee, of the elite Red Samurai unit had found them. He offered a final deal, which was recieved with a hail of gunfire that earned his respect and forced him to retreat. The runners took their payment from unmarked credsticks left by Patriot and loaded Parker into the awaiting helicopter, which flew off into the direction of the ocean.

Payment per runner:
$37,500 for the successful delivery of Parker Avery (Parker’s original payment of $150,000 split 4 ways.)

Session 2 - Three Way Fuckery
Mafia + Yakuza + Lonestar = Shadowrun

Session 2: 10/25/13
Mission 2: Three Way Fuckery
Shadowrunners: Arsenal, Superbat, Bullhorn, Autumn Rose

Mission Summary:
Nicky Finnigan was framed for the hacking of a local company named Molycom, and the murder of two Molycom employees. Nicky was being held by Lonestar, and the runners were hired by “Bricktop” Finnigan to find out who’s responsible and send them a message; with a bonus for getting Nicky off the hook.

The runners started gathering data, and eventually learned that the Yakuza were responsible for the crime against Molycom, and the framing of Nicky. It also appeared that Lonestar had covered up the crime scene. The information led to Mako Tattoo’s downtown, a known Yakuza front led by “Mako” Shigeda, of the newly formed Kanaga-Gumi.

Mako learned of the runner’s investigation and revealed that the Yakuza were being extorted by Lonestar. They needed to frame the Mafia publically in order to maintain any leverage over Lonestar, but they wanted to change that situation. Mako counter-offered a substantial sum for the runners to break into the Lonestar precinct, destroy the evidence against the Yakuza, and silence Nicky forever.

Hundreds of bullets, severed body parts, and a large explosion later… Mako was dead, Mako’s tattoo’s was destroyed, and the runners escaped. A tip-off to Knight Errant left Lonestar in a difficult situation, and Lonestar Major Rowes held a press conference the next day releasing Nicky Finnigan and publically stating that they would be devoting their resources to fighting the Yakuza menace.

Payment per runner:
$6,000 for the Information
$3,000 for the message
$3,000 for getting Nicky off the hook
$2,000 Bonus for getting Lonestar off the Mafia, and the list of Yakuza contacts
